6:15 PM: On returning for next season, New York Jets coach Rex Ryan said on Thursday: "I'll tell you one thing: I'm going to coach my ass off... and I can't wait."

6:00 PM: The Buffalo News has reactions from Sabres players & coaches after head coach Lindy Ruff was fired after 16 seasons. Ruff informed the players by hopping on the team bus Wednesday before it left for Toronto.

5:45 PM: During Wednesday's Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Philadelphia Flyers game, NBC Sports analyst Mike Milbury said Sidney Crosby & Evgeni Malkin were "like crack addicts that can't get enough of his offensive stuff, they want to go coast to coast and score a bunch of goals."

5:30 PM: Reggie Rose, brother & agent for Chicago Bulls player Derrick Rose, criticized the team for not making any moves before Thursday's trading deadline: "It's frustrating to see my brother play his heart and soul out for the team and them not put anything around him."

5:15 PM: New Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid said he would be willing to trade away the team's top pick in the NFL draft: "We're just not going to give it away. So, we'd have to see what people throw our way. It's a pretty valuable pick, I'd say."

5:00 PM: New York Giants co-owner John Mara says the 2014 Super Bowl host committee has been talking with the local power company in taking "extra precautions" to make sure next season's game at MetLife Stadium doesn't suffer any power outages like this season's game in New Orleans.

4:45 PM: In her new book, former Tennessee women's basketball coach Pat Summitt talks about her rivalry & relationship with UConn coach Geno Auriemma. Summitt said that Auriemma was a "smart-ass", but added that he donated $10,000 "on the spot" when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

4:30 PM: Minnesota Timberwolves coach Rick Adelman missed practice Thursday to accompany his wife to a medical appointment. Adelman missed 11 games in January while wife Mary Kay was being treated for seizures.

4:15 PM: The Washington Post reports the Wizards have traded Jordan Crawford to the Boston Celtics for Leandro Barbosa & Jason Collins.

4:00 PM: The Orlando Magic have traded shooting guard J.J. Redick to the Milwaukee Bucks in a six-player deal.

3:45 PM: The Louisville Courier Journal ran a cartoon about how Nerlens Noel's ACL injury means a trip to the NIT for Kentucky. Erin Calipari, daughter of Wildcats coach John Calipari, responded with a cartoon of her own.

3:30 PM: Smashing Pumpkins lead singer Billy Corgan appears in a TV ad for a Chicago furniture company that also promotes his Resistance Pro wrestling promotion. Corgan did not get paid for the ad, but did get a $50,000 donation for the PAWS Chicago animal rescue organization.

3:15 PM: The Miami Heat have traded center Dexter Pittman to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for the rights to center Ricky Sanchez, who is playing in Argentina and is not expected to play in the NBA.

3:00 PM: Lakers player Metta World Peace was awakened by police early Tuesday morning with reports of men with guns outside his condo. The men turned out to be actors in a movie being produced by World Peace's company that was being filmed at his condo complex.
